This was a biblical command to farmers so that the poor could gather enough
to feed themselves. The Ontario Christian Gleaners will gather donated produce
from farmers and food processing companies to help feed the hungry people in our
world today. We plan to dehydrate donated produce to make packages of a nourishing
soup mix and other food products.

Millions of people in various parts of the world struggle to meet their basic
nutritional needs. The results are wasting, stunted growth, and vulnerability to
disease. Children especially are susceptible since chronic undernourishment will
affect them throughout their life.
Meanwhile, much produce is wasted in an attempt to provide perfect fruits and
vegetables for Canadian consumers. The province of British Columbia, which produces
2.8% of Canada's vegetables, has two gleaners operations producing over six million
servings of soup annually. The province of Ontario, which produces 22.9%, has no
gleaning operation yet. Obviously there is great potential to establish many gleaner
operations in Ontario.
